Campaign, Quick Play, and the squad

How a Hamburger Hill session is structured, without inventing a key chart the developer has not published.

Hamburger Hill does not ship with a public control card. The play page on this site lists actions, not keys. What follows is the loop on the official page, plus what the 0.7.0 notes and public clips make visible.

The campaign loop

Start on the map. Pick the attack. The 0.7.0 notes describe a redesigned campaign sidebar, new province art, and attack previews, so the plan is meant to be readable before you commit. Equip the squad for that fight. Tooltips on equipment were part of the same update. Then you fight the battle in first person.

Territory is not a score popup you can ignore. The pitch is to take ground and hold the counterattack. If a mission is an extraction, 0.7.0 called out clearer helicopter rescue. If a mission is a convoy, players have reported getting stuck because a blocked road or a bridge repair was not obvious. Loading-screen tips in that build explain some of those actions. Read them. The game is short on a traditional tutorial, and the developer has said the aim is to make the systems readable without one.

Quick Play

Quick Play skips the campaign clock. You choose terrain, weather, and the opposing force. The official description includes battles of up to 64 participants and as many as three factions. It is the place to learn a weapon or a specialist before you spend a campaign attack on them.

The squad

Public clips are titled around roles: rifleman, machine gunner, medic, radio operator, engineer, flamethrower. The official weapon list matches that spread: selective-fire rifles, belt-fed guns, rockets, a sidearm, and, on the mountain-fighter side, a shotgun and a knife. Use the role that the mission is actually asking for. A radio operator is how players describe calling fire. A medic is how they describe keeping a squad in the fight. The command that highlights those specialists is shown in the build you installed. Player comments often mention a dedicated order key. Confirm it on your screen rather than memorizing a key from a website.

Binoculars arrived as “binocular support controls” in 0.7.0. The prompt in that version is the binding.

Insertions

The developer’s own Instagram reel is an airborne insertion. YouTube clips show airborne drops and a beach landing. Helicopter extraction is called out in the 0.7.0 notes, and players argue about helicopter entries as well. Treat insertion as a choice the mission offers, not as a single required method.

What not to expect yet

There is no official browser build. Multiplayer is a long-term goal, not a mode. Steam and controller support have been promised as future work, not as buttons in 0.7.0. Windows and macOS files can sit on different version numbers. If a guide clip disagrees with your install, trust the tooltips in the version you downloaded.
