macOS

Version 0.4.0

hamburger-hill-0.4.0-macos.zip

As listed on itch.io on 30 October 2026. The macOS build is several updates behind Windows, so some features in the devlogs are Windows-only for now.

Install and start playing

Wesware has not published an install guide, so the steps below stick to what the itch.io page and devlogs say.

  1. 1

Download the zip for your system

Only use the official itch.io page. The files are about 276 MB (Windows) and 295 MB (macOS).

  2. 2

    Extract the whole zip

The game ships as a zip archive. Extract all of it to a folder of your choice before starting the game.

  3. 3

    Start the game

The build is not code-signed, and some Windows players report a SmartScreen "unknown publisher" warning. Wesware has not commented on it publicly. See the troubleshooting guide before you decide to run it.

  4. 4

    Play the tutorial

Update 0.2.0 added a tutorial led by a drill instructor. It is the quickest way to learn the controls in your build.

  5. 5

Plan the attack on the map

In the campaign you keep a 12-man squad and make one assault per turn. Ground you take has to be held against counterattacks.

  6. 6

    Equip soldiers before the fight

Pick kit for each soldier. Update 0.5.0 simplified kit slots and added extra-ammo choices; 0.7.0 added equipment tooltips.

  7. 7

    Fight the battle yourself

Each battle is played in first person. Public videos cover the rifleman, medic, radio operator and engineer roles; see the squad roles guide.

  8. 8

    Try Quick Play

Quick Play lets you pick terrain, weather and opposing forces for a single battle, with up to three factions.

Controls

Wesware has not published a full key chart. This list only includes controls named in the devlogs; follow the in-game prompts for everything else.

Move and aim

Standard first-person shooter movement and aiming. Exact keys are not published; check the tutorial.

Invert Y axis

A player asked for this on itch.io; there was no answer as of 30 October 2026.

Switch weapons

Update 0.6.0 lets you cycle weapons with the mouse wheel.

Recruits

Since 0.3.0, click a recruit to view his kit and right-click to send him back.

Medics

Update 0.5.0 simplified medic controls; 0.6.0 improved medic AI.

Binoculars

Radio operators use binoculars to call artillery, napalm and illumination (0.5.0). Update 0.7.0 added binocular support controls.

Objectives

Update 0.7.0 made mission objectives clearer on screen.

Controller

0.2.0 improved controller navigation on the campaign map. Full controller support is still being worked on, per Wesware.

Updating to a new version

New builds arrive as new zip files on itch.io. Download the latest zip for your system and check the devlog for what changed.
